Eight Zodiac Guardians – Vairochana Buddha

Estimated Reading Time: 4 mins

In ancient China, early astrologers noted that Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, played a major role in shaping human astrology. Jupiter completes its orbit around the Sun every 12 years, which is divided into twelve equal sections, with each section corresponding to a particular period. Each of these sections is linked to the number of days in Earth’s orbit around the Sun.

Conjunction of Planets Jupiter and Saturn

In ancient Chinese astrology, Saturn, the second-largest planet in the solar system, also played a key role in astrological traditions. Astrologers noted that Saturn and Jupiter aligned every 20 years, signalling the start of a new cycle. This alignment was reflected in the Feng Shui periods, with each cycle dominated by a specific Element and Trigram, influencing societal and economic trends.

The current cycle, known as Period 9, spans from 4 February 2024 to 3 February 2044 and is characterised by the Fire element and the Li Trigram. The vibrant energy of Fire is expected to drive trends and developments throughout these 20 years.

Period 5 is unique in that it has no associated Trigram.

Eight Trigram and Twelve Zodiacs

The Bagua consists of eight unique trigrams, each formed by three vertically stacked lines called Yao (爻). Ancient astrologers, particularly King Wen of Zhou, developed the Later Heaven Bagua to define the elements linked with each direction, season, and zodiac sign.

Vairochana Buddha — The Zodiac Guardian

Vairochana Buddha (大日如来佛) is revered as the supreme, all-encompassing Buddha across various Buddhist sects in East Asia and was particularly influential in China from the sixth to the tenth centuries.

With his profound wisdom, Vairochana Buddha governs different realms—wealth, success, health and relationships. He empowers his devotees to ascend to the pinnacle of their fields, establishing themselves as influential leaders and driving forces within their respective disciplines.

Design and Symbolism

Vairochana Buddha (大日如来佛) is the designated zodiac guardian for individuals born in the years of the Sheep (1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015, 2027) and the Monkey (1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028) and is celebrated on the 8th day of the 4th Lunar Month, coinciding with 15 May this year.

Imperial Harvest’s powerful representation of Vairochana Buddha showcases auspicious symbols, each carrying unique blessings to guide and empower its destined owners toward breakthrough success. As one of the most revered figures in Buddhism, Vairochana’s presence offers protection, wisdom, and the potential for significant achievements.

Emblem of Wisdom

Fully immersing himself in the rich tapestry of Buddhist literature, Master David meticulously studied the significance of Buddhist mudras before selecting the most fitting gesture to incorporate into the design of the Imperial Harvest Fine Jadeite Vairochana Buddha. In Buddhism, mudras are symbolic hand gestures often used in rituals, rites, and meditation to evoke specific states of mind.

The Bodhyagri mudra, adopted by Imperial Harvest’s Vairochana Buddha, represents his supreme wisdom. Known as the “fist of wisdom,” this gesture, where the left index finger is clasped by the right hand, symbolises both knowledge and prosperity. It empowers devotees with the wisdom and benefactor support needed to rise to the top of their fields, bestowing the blessings of success and wealth.

Five Wisdom Buddha Crown

Vairochana Buddha is adorned with the Five Wisdom Buddha Crown, a powerful symbol of his vast wisdom and the blessings of the Five Great Buddhas. Each of these Buddhas embodies a core aspect of Buddhist wisdom: the great mirror wisdom, the wisdom of equality, the wisdom of profound insight, and the wisdom of accomplishment.

This sacred crown channels the collective blessings of the Five Great Buddhas, empowering those destined to receive it with the wisdom, foresight, and clarity needed to excel in their professional endeavours and achieve remarkable success.

Guardian Serpent

Positioned majestically behind Imperial Harvest’s Vairochana Buddha is the Guardian Serpent, a symbol of rebirth, intelligence, charm, and determination. As a powerful metaphor for renewal, the serpent’s shedding of its old skin before re-emerging signifies the destined owner’s ability to grow from past experiences, embracing new beginnings and opportunities for transformation. This emblem of rebirth embodies the potential for personal evolution and success, empowering its wearer to rise stronger and wiser.
