In ancient Chinese astrology, Saturn, the second-largest planet in our solar system, also held a crucial role in Chinese astrological practices. It was observed that Saturn aligned with Jupiter every 20 years, marking the beginning of a new cycle. This celestial phenomenon was reflected in the understanding of Feng Shui periods, with each planetary alignment bringing forth the dominance of a specific Element and Trigram, influencing the social and economic trends of the time.
Spanning from 4 February 2024 to 3 February 2044, the current cycle is denoted as Period 9, and is characterised by the Fire element and the Li Trigram. The dynamic energy of Fire is expected to shape trends and developments throughout these 20 years.
Period 5 is unique in that it has no associated Trigram.
The Bagua consists of eight unique trigrams, each formed by three vertically stacked lines called Yao (爻). Ancient astrologers, particularly King Wen of Zhou, developed the Later Heaven Bagua to define the elements linked with each direction, season, and zodiac sign.

Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (普贤菩萨) serves as the zodiac guardian for those born in the year of the Dragon and Snake. His name, which translates to “universal worthiness,” reflects the boundless righteousness and virtue that define this revered deity.
As one of the principal bodhisattvas, Samantabhadra is believed to be omnipresent, granting his followers the ability to influence time, places, and physical conditions. In some Buddhist traditions, Samantabhadra is often depicted alongside Gautama Buddha and Manjusri Bodhisattva (link to https://imperialharvest.com/blog/zg-manjusri-bodhisattva/), forming a trinity where each deity represents core aspects of success: Manjusri symbolises wisdom, Gautama Buddha embodies enlightenment, and Samantabhadra represents action.
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva (普贤菩萨) is the zodiac guardian for those born in the year of the Dragon (1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012) and the Snake (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013). His guidance empowers individuals to shape their destinies, turning their aspirations into reality through the guidance and support of Samantabhadra’s all-encompassing virtues.
Samantabhadra is commemorated on the 21st day of the 2nd Lunar Month, coinciding with 30 March this year. He offers guidance and empowerment to those born under the Dragon and Snake signs, helping them to reach their highest potential and achieve their goals.
Drawing inspiration from traditional depictions of the deity, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva is portrayed riding a white six-tusked elephant—a symbol of our inherent power to conquer obstacles and challenges. The six tusks represent the overcoming of attachments to the six senses in Buddhism, empowering devotees with the insight, focus, and determination to stay on the right path toward their goals and aspirations.
In Imperial Feng Shui, the number 6 is considered both fortunate and prosperous, symbolising six sources of income: career, business, investment, windfall, trading, and inheritance.
Samantabhadra Bodhisattva wields the renowned ceremonial artefact, the Ruyi Scepter. The name “Ruyi Scepter” comes from the Chinese words 如 (ru), meaning “like” or “such as,” and 意 (yi), which refers to one’s wishes or intentions. Together, they signify the fulfilment of one’s goals, which Samantabhadra bestows upon devotees. Additionally, this jadeite pendant features a powerful wish-fulfilling pearl, which helps remove unforeseen and unnecessary obstacles, ensuring smooth progress in personal and professional endeavours.
Under the backdrop of the ever-revolving Sun and Moon, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva empowers his devotees with wealth, prosperity and abundance all year round.
