Observing Guan Yin’s Third Birthday with Imperial Harvest

On Tuesday, 27 October 2026, Imperial Harvest gathered its clients, their families and friends at The Alkaff Mansion, Singapore, to observe Guan Yin’s Third Birthday. The evening was led by Grand Master David Goh. It honoured the day the Bodhisattva of Compassion stepped away from worldly life to devote herself to relieving the suffering of all beings.

Guan Yin has three sacred days, each falling on the nineteenth of its lunar month:

  • Her birth: the nineteenth of the second month (二月十九)
  • Her enlightenment: the nineteenth of the sixth month (六月十九)
  • Her renunciation: the nineteenth of the ninth month (九月十九), which fell on 28 October 2026

The third, Guan Yin’s Renunciation Day (观音出家日), is known to Imperial Harvest as Guan Yin’s Third Birthday. It is a day of giving. In its honour, Grand Master David Goh unveiled the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Golden Circle: a circle built on the trust between Imperial Harvest and the clients who carry its practice forward, and blessed by Guan Yin in every one of her thirty-three forms.

Arrival at The Alkaff Mansion

As evening settled over Telok Blangah Hill, guests arrived at The Alkaff Mansion to welcome drinks and canapés. Many went first to the holographic photo booth, stepping in with family and friends to capture the evening before it had properly begun. The gathering was built around the people we bring into our lives, so it was a fitting first stop: portraits of those who had come together, on a night dedicated to the bonds between them.

Unveiling the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Ceremonial Anchor

Across the room stood something no client of Imperial Harvest had seen before: the Imperial Harvest Tongan Sandalwood Thirty-Three Guan Yin Ceremonial Anchor. This centrepiece is carved with all thirty-three manifestations of Guan Yin’s mercy in a single piece. It is a family heirloom handed down to Grand Master David Goh and has presided over the consecrations at his private altar for years, out of public view.

That evening, the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Ceremonial Anchor was unveiled to the clients it has served. Guests gathered around it throughout the reception. Many were seeing for the first time the sacred image before which their own treasures had been consecrated. It was a quiet, personal moment, and it set the tone for everything that followed.

Grand Master David Goh opened the evening by welcoming guests in honour of Guan Yin’s Third Birthday. He spoke of how Imperial Harvest has grown: not by chance, but through the trust of its clients. Many of those in the room had introduced the people closest to them, including family members, business partners and lifelong friends, because they believed in what they had received.

To honour that trust, Grand Master David Goh unveiled the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Golden Circle. Each introduction a client makes is now marked with Guan Yin talismans hand-drawn by Grand Master David Goh, for both the client and the person they introduce. The talismans are gathered across Three Silk-Bound Albums, 天册, 地册 and 人册 (Heaven, Earth and Humanity), which together hold thirty-three Guan Yin talismans. On a day dedicated to giving, it was a circle built on giving.

Dinner, Wishing Cards and a Dance Performance

Guests then sat down to a four-course dinner with live music. Around each table, conversation flowed easily between clients who, in many cases, had first come to Imperial Harvest through one another.

Midway through dinner, each guest received a Wishing Card and wrote a wish of their own beside a candle. Some wrote for themselves, others for their families, their businesses or someone they loved. Each wish was private and written in the guest’s own hand, and each would be carried before the Thirty-Three Guan Yin later that night.

A dance performance followed, bringing movement and colour to the room. After the stillness of the Wishing Cards, it was a moment of celebration, and a reminder that a festival day is, above all, an occasion for joy.

Sacred Works and Heirloom Treasures Unveiled

Grand Master David Goh then returned to unveil the sacred works and heirloom treasures presented alongside the Ceremonial Anchor. At their centre were the Eight Zodiac Guardians and Thirty-Six Marshals Talisman Painting Scrolls, uniting the Buddhist and Taoist lineages.

Other Imperial Harvest collections were also unveiled:

Each piece carries the devotion, discipline and intention with which it was created, as an offering of reverence on a day dedicated to compassion. Dessert was served to live music as guests talked over what had been revealed, and the room settled ahead of the evening’s centrepiece.

Ninety Wishing Candles and the Guan Yin Blessing

As the evening deepened, the room turned towards the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Ceremonial Anchor.

Ninety wishing candles stood before it. Grand Master David Goh lit every one of them himself, one by one, without hurry. The room grew quiet as he moved along the rows. Each flame carried the wishes guests had written earlier in the evening, and each was lit with the same care as the first.

When the last candle was lit, Grand Master David Goh led the Guan Yin Blessing before the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Ceremonial Anchor, in honour of the day Guan Yin chose her path. It was the first time the Ceremonial Anchor had presided over a blessing with the clients it serves in the room. Every wish was placed before all thirty-three manifestations of Guan Yin at once. As tradition holds, each form appears in the shape best suited to the one who calls upon her.

The Lotus Offering at the Fountains

The evening’s final moment was one of gratitude. Grand Master David Goh, Master Erika and Master Jowel led guests out to the fountains of The Alkaff Mansion, each guest carrying a fresh lotus.

One by one, guests laid their flowers on the water as an offering to the Thirty-Three Guan Yin. The lotus rises clean from muddy water and blooms untouched by it, which is why it has long been associated with Guan Yin herself. Each flower was a quiet thanks for blessings already received, and an offering for those still to come.

By the time the last lotus had been placed, the fountains were covered in blooms: a single offering, made together, by everyone who had shared the evening.

A Private Viewing to Close

  • Blog 10.30 Thirty Three Guan Yin Golden Circle Event 2026 Private Viewing 1

The evening closed with a private viewing of the treasures unveiled that night. Guests lingered over each piece and spoke with Grand Master David Goh and the Imperial Harvest team. They also took a final look at the Thirty-Three Guan Yin Ceremonial Anchor before it returned to the altar.

We give thanks to all who joined us in honouring Guan Yin on this auspicious occasion.
