Eight Zodiac Guardians – Vairochana Buddha

Estimated Reading Time: 3min

Vairochana Buddha (大日如来佛) is the designated zodiac guardian for those born in the years of the Sheep (1967, 1979, 1991, 2003) and the Monkey (1968, 1980, 1992, 2004). Particularly influential in China across the sixth through tenth centuries, Vairochana remains revered as the supreme and all-encompassing Buddha in different Buddhist sects spanning across East Asia.

With his wisdom, Vairochana Buddha governs three realms – wealth, success, health and relationships. He empowers devotees to rise to the top of their fields, cementing their positions as movers and shakers of their respective disciplines.

Imperial Harvest’s Vairochana Buddha

Imperial Harvest’s Eight Zodiac Guardians collection immortalises Vairochana Buddha’s visage in superlative Imperial Harvest-grade jadeite and draws inspiration from the all-encompassing wisdom that is only emphasised by the persistence, determination, independence and wit characterised by the individuals born in the years of the Sheep and the Monkey.

Auspicious Emblems

Designed with those born in the year of the Sheep and the Monkey in mind, Imperial Harvest melds the values and blessings central to Vairochana Buddha into an exquisite Imperial Harvest treasure.

As one of the most influential figures in the Buddhist religion, this powerful manifestation of the Vairochana Buddha features distinct auspicious emblems, each attributed with different blessings to guide and assist destined owners in achieving breakthrough success.

Emblem of Wisdom

Fully immersing himself in the extensive research of Buddhist literature, Master David studied Buddhist mudras before deciding on the most appropriate mudra to adapt into his design of the Fine Jadeite Vairochana Buddha. In Buddhist studies, mudras refer to symbolic hand gestures or poses often employed in rites, rituals and meditations to evoke intended states of mind.

The Bodhyagri mudra adopted by Imperial Harvest’s Vairochana Buddha is an emblem of his supreme wisdom, with the gesture being both a symbolic and experiential one that invokes understanding, wealth and benefactor support in Vairochana’s destined devotees.

This mudra is also known as the “fist of wisdom”, and is a gesture entailing the left index finger being grasped with the right hand. This powerful gesture imparts blessings of wisdom and prosperity, aiding individuals to climb to the pinnacle of their respective industries.

Five Wisdom Buddha Crown

Symbolic of Vairochana Buddha’s vast wisdom, the Five Wisdom Buddha Crown encompasses the blessings of the Five Great Buddhas. They represent different core aspects of Buddhism: the great mirror wisdom, the wisdom of equality, the wisdom of profound insight and wisdom of accomplishment.

The crown adorning Vairochana Buddha encompasses these blessings from the Five Great Buddhas, empowering our blessed clients with the wisdom and foresight necessary to scale new heights and attain excellence in their professional careers.

Guardian Serpent

Positioned prominently behind Imperial Harvest’s Vairochana Buddha is the Guardian Serpent, representing elements of rebirth, intelligence, charm and determination. A powerful allegory of rebirth and renewal, the serpent’s ability to grow then shed its old skin before re-emerging is symbolic of its destined owner’s ability to grow from our past experiences, and the opportunity to start over anew.

Paying tribute to one of the most influential figures in Buddhism, Imperial Harvest’s Vairochana Buddha is meticulously hand-finished by our team of master artisans, boasting a wealth of multi-generational techniques and experience in their craft.
